Learn how to make your own digital speedo for your GTA V vehicles with this easy tutorial!
Create a digital counter from A to Z and customize it as you wish! You'll need Zmodeler 3 and OpenIV to create your counter.
The principle is to create 2D shapes on a plane, then apply the texture of the original game's digital counter to them. Once this has been done, use a UV Mapper to organize the various elements on each shape (lap counter, numbers, indicators, blinkers, etc.).
To put it simply, let's take the example of the lap counter. The game is programmed to light up the square corresponding to a certain engine speed (in rpm), so if you place a polygon on it, it will light up when the square lights up. There's a maximum of 29 bars, but it's possible to use just 10, for example, so it's really up to you. It's also possible to create 2 bars to count turns (as is the case on my Lamborghini Reventon).
You can choose whether or not to activate all lights, indicators, etc.
Don't forget to adjust your hardware settings to get the best possible rendering and avoid unpleasant reflections on your in-game meter.
Once finished, we create the "Compound", name it "dials" and assign it Flags "A" before placing it back in the car folder on Zmodeler.
All that's left to do is activate it, by adding the texture to your car's .YTD textures file, then editing the "vehicles.meta" file to tell the game to use the digital speedometer.
When all this is done, launch the game and admire the results!
